Black Lives Matter

We want to address the current situation, couched in, and personified by the George Floyd murder and the Black Lives Matter Movement.  These injustices, and the long history of injustices against Black people in this country have been on the forefront of our minds and we are awash in grief, anger and the desire to right the wrongs of the past.  As a company, we could not bear to stay silent, this is our statement.

First, to our black colleagues, customers and friends, we want to offer our support, empathy and an earnest desire to an ally. The pain this country feels is real, but none have born this pain and injustice more than the Black community.

The unjust and often unseen underbelly of American society has been exposed and we are all feeling vulnerable and upset that we are still so far from the American ideals of “liberty and justice for all”.

To our non-Black colleagues and customers looking to deepen their understanding of racial inequality and being Black in America today, this is an opportune time to open our eyes and hearts to learn about racism and its impacts.  As a book printing company, we understand the value of words and encourage you to read or listen to books and podcasts to that end, as will we.

I can also recommend the 1619 New York Times podcast by Nikole Hannah-Jones, Robin DiAngelo’s White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism and Dr. Ibram X. Kendi’s How to Be An Antiracist.

On Youtube, the video series ‘Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man’ has been illuminating as well.

If folks have an idea on how PufferPrint can be a better ally, we encourage an earnest conversation so please reach out.
